I just returned from a camping trip group composed of people who are not connected (read: don't count on me for financial support or otherwise legally do not have to put up with me), and once again, I am amazed at how we managed not to kill each other.

Sometimes, heaven help you, for long periods of time, as more than 15 minutes. In this case, there is not enough beer on the planet, and so you're going to need some helpful tips. So here's what we've all talked about around the campfire one night, things that we all thought had helped over the years, not to mention through this trip (lots of beer was also high on the list). 1. Designate a travel Manager: while no one likes having to report yet another boss, agree on a person (or a couple) to serve as a central clearinghouse for information will at least reduce the inevitable back-and-forth that occurs as the trip nears and more details need to be solidified. Summer is not enough, it's true, but it's never too early to start thinking about the cooler weather – especially if, like us, you're in one of those areas where it feels like the heat will not break ever.Fall temps mean fall leaves, and the frenzy over where to peek into those leaves is always fun. Here are some options around the country where the unit takes you through some of the best views and more colorful. And, as always, visit the Go Camping America to check out great options for campgrounds and RV parks along the way.From late September to mid-October, the area along the historic Columbia River Highway, which begins in 13 miles east of Portland, Oregon, on Interstate 84, is a smorgasbord of color, with maple trees, ash and cottonwoods all vying for best in show. The falls en route – check out Multnomah or Wahkeena falls – are dramatic against the brilliant foliage, and there are other attractions as well, including the Bonneville Dam, which has a fascinating salmon fish hatchery.  The falls in the Columbia River Gorge are beautiful.The only gold and Burgundy to fall in Aspen poplars turn this into a rewarding cars from mid-September to mid-October. Once you are in everything, however, I will say that was great fun. Promise. Don't forget your camera, because there is also a "zoo" of sorts, where you feel as if you're in the cage, and animals you get to roam free. It's pretty cool.

Altapass Orchard (MP 328.3) near Linville Falls, N.C., is better at collecting apples, of course, but throughout the year it offers products made from apples (cider, juices, jams, etc.) as well as a flux and also has a pavilion of monarch butterflies for kids.

Sliding Rock (MP 407.6) near Pisgah, N.C., is a paradise for children, a natural water slide ending in a small pool. It costs a dollar for it, and good luck tearing children away on a hot day.

Packing for a camping trip often feels like a no-win situation.Half the time it feels like he is carrying around yourself – it seems that it would make more sense to watch a video of a fire on TV and save money on gas, because at least then it might reach in refrigerator and all beers would always be cold. Over the years, I have also found that we need pack lists for different types of travel-we have separate Rose RV trips, camping trips, car trips, back-country trips where we are mountain biking, river rafting, etc. The simplest thing to do is start the lists on a computer, name them according to the type of trip – which for us means that we can then cut-and-paste lists for great journeys, such as when we'll be biking on a camping trip.  We put two lines next to each item, so that we can make a checkmark if it is an element that we will need to take and then mark when it was packed. It looks something like this: what is useful about the list pack is that you can print out separate lists for each family member, so that children can pack their clothes, games and other items. For younger kids, you can always check on them, but older kids will enjoy some autonomy-knows that the basic types of elements that they need to take, but they can make decisions on those exact. It seems as though every time we head out, someone brings a new piece of gear that wind up wanting, and it's a struggle to keep running after the trip and buy it. Not only is the cost of a factor – we cannot afford just any new gadgets and gizmos – but there are also considerations of space and weight. If you've used the old iodine tablets or chlorine to Sterilise water when on a trip long backcountry, it is time to check out this system. Lightweight and economical in the long run, the unit uses ultraviolet light to kill bacteria and viruses in the water. Just stick at the end of the wand pen in water and wait until the light turns off, indicating that the water is clean. The pen claims to be 99.9% effective, which is as good as or better than any other system. Initially, the cost will seem prohibitive and at first I was skeptical about the use of the battery, but now that I've been using it for a year, I sold. Each set of rechargeable batteries is supposed to be good for between 50-75 liters of water, but I've actually gotten closer to about 80 (recently came out with a unit powered by hand, by the way, but I haven't tested). Bonus: Iodine and chlorine make the water taste icky. The charm of the old time newfangled meets recreation when you take a trip near New Haven along the Long Island Sound in Connecticut. thinking people Many bottom of Yale University, when they think of New Haven, and rightfully so – occupies the western edge of town and is a fun tour (free, visit the website for more information). But there is much more to this place loaded with architecture that began as a colony in 1638: churches, art galleries, libraries and museums are scattered around squares neatly manicured. If it's a beautiful day for a picnic, Lighthouse Point Park is suitable for swimming and has a cool old carousel. Stony Creek is located southeast of Branford and a destination for those looking to take a cruise around TheThimbles, small islands with their own unique and strange stories. Just east of this is Hammonasset Beach State Park, two miles of soft sand, clean with facilities such as toilets, showers and picnic areas.Start drive eastward along Interstate 95 in the lower Connecticut River Valley for a series of picturesque towns with lots of antique shops and views over the sound. Places like Westbrook, Old Saybrook and Old Lyme are fascinating, and the latter is known as a mecca for American impressionists Childe Hassam and William Chadwick onetime. They met at the Florence Griswold House, which is now a museum worth a visit. Old Saybrook is home to the impressive collection at Old Saybrook antiques Center. Also in this area: the popular Gillette Castle State Park, flanked by mountains and in possession of a Royal Castle, medieval-looking, with the Connecticut River that runs alongside. There are so many times, especially after a long day of sightseeing, when we return to the field and nobody feels like cooking. It is tempting to go out for something that is cheap and bad for us, and more often than not, that is what we do. Try to have a few things, though, that will keep us from doing it too. All it takes is a couple of chicken breasts in the freezer and some Borealis – maybe a bit of broccoli and red pepper, or some celery and carrots – atop steamed rice (instant is better for you than a Big Mac) and we're good to go.
 
Here it is favorite stir-fry of our family.Limit with vegetables in this Sky – we used carrots, celery, all sorts of peppers, broccoli, asparagus, mushrooms (shiitake, portobello, button), bok choy, baby corn and onions, all to good effect. We do a full steam rice, but is faster with instant if that's what you have on hand. Serves 3-43 Boneless Skinless chicken breasts, cut into tablespoon 1 inch thick strips2. toasted sesame oil, plus 4 tbsp more. 2-inch piece of fresh ginger, chopped, or 1 tbsp. ground ginger6 cups of vegetables, cut into bite-size chunks2 spoon. Rice vinegar, rice vinegar or white wine vinegar2 tbls. black sesame seed
Soy sauce at tasteHeat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until hot; Add 2 tbls. sesame oil and then immediately add chicken strips. Saut?, stirring, until the meat is cooked through, about 4 minutes. Remove from the Pan, set aside chicken in a bowl and turn off the burner. Add garlic and ginger to pan. Let it sit for a minute, then turn to medium heat. Add the remaining sesame oil and FRY for 10 seconds. Add the vegetables. Saut?, stirring constantly, until vegetables begin to soften. Many tent campers today are being outraged by the over-popularity of RV use along with prices of Tents and gear. Getting "back to nature" was considered by many to simply be a tent, a fire, and good campfire cooking, while connecting with nature on an up close and personal level. It was an inexpensive way to relax, rest and enjoy the amenities of this wonderful planet we live on.Years ago, I personally could just grab my gear, head to one of the many "camping areas" within a 100 mile radius of my home and within minutes of arriving I was set up, tent in place & hunting firewood, and enjoying the sites and sounds of nature. As time went on, the "tent" areas began to lessen.This past weekend, We decided a simple weekend "get a way" was in order. We carefully packed our car (believe me, not easy..its a tiny Toyota Tercel) with a tent, gear (such as a mallet for the stakes, bug spray, soap,etc) a cooler of drinks & prepared meals that easily cook themselves in a campfire and off we went..to one of my favorite spots which is about 150 miles from home. My favorite spot was always this little almost deserted spot by the Gulf that we would pitch our tent by the water, enjoy the scenery and take in the fresh water and beautiful sunshine. Upon arriving, The first thing I noticed was the road was now paved,..and as we pulled into this campsite, I was shocked! There was no possible way to see the water, let alone walk on the beach. The beautiful scenery & beach were now full of RVs blocking any nature left.

There was absolutely NO set area for Tents.So taking things in stride, we left there in search of another camp ground. We called almost every place we knew of, such as "springs" "state parks" etc. Only to find they were booked or did not support TENT camping any longer. We ended back at home due to daylight with nothing more than car lag. The next day we were determined to find a "spot". We searched the Internet, called many to find the same story, or extremely High prices (50 a night for a camp spot?) some charged you not only outrageous prices, then want to charge you if you make a campfire, or use one of their grills, etc. Until We were thrilled! They took Tent campers, they had spots open, "just come on in" they said. So we did. Looking around I saw Nothing but RVs. and No tents, figuring they must have a tent area somewhere on the grounds. We paid for our 1 night stay, was given a numbered spot and a map. We were placed "squeezed" in between 2 RVs. Surely this must be a mistake...we traveled around the campgrounds, not 1 fellow Tent camper anywhere on the grounds. We took what was given to us and proceeded to camp in what seemed like someones back yard. It seems this park has RVs that spend a good portion or possibly All year parked. We were the ONLY ones awake with a campfire, at 8:30 pm. With absolutely No scenery, etc.I along with many other "Tent campers" am extremely upset over the lack of "Tent" camping. Don't get me wrong, I am all for the RVs. They are a great way to see the country, without the expense of motels, restaurants, etc. It is not the RV owners that tent campers are upset with, It is the lack of tent areas for us. It seems the camping parks and areas make a little more money off of RVs per night than tents, so Tent campers are being pushed out, to make room for RVs. My favorite foods on the road are those that can be cooked in RV, keep well, feed a lot of people and make them happy most of them. You can find recipes all over the Internet for this Hawaiian-style meat, but most of them put the baked pig's head, and oddly enough, even when they cook it in a crockpot, called for way too long of a time, which dries out the meat.  pineapple sauce moistens the rice or pork. we have become dependent on little slider sandwiches now you can find in most grocery stores, which are made by Sara Lee and Pepperidge Farm. They reduce the number of sandwiches each eats, which makes for a natural portion control, and are tasty (count on at least two per person). We also serve pork meat in tortillas with all the fixings – onions, coriander, tomatoes, etc. Barbecue sauce is great with pork, but the pineapple sauce recipe that follows is excellent as well. This sauce works well with steamed rice as a side dish, too. Keep in mind that the pig is actually wetter and better the second and third head boneless pork roast, 1 day-4-6 tablespoons Salt 2 pounds1 Hawaiian marino (you can also use kosher salt) 1 tablespoon liquid smoke flavor (we used mesquite half-and-half hickory) puncture the pork all over with a fork or the tip of a knife. Rub it well with salt. Pour the liquid smoke on one hand and then rub it in the other. Place pork in slow cooker on low heat. Cover and cook for 8-9 hours to 4-5 pounds and 9-10 hours to 6 kilos, turning once halfway through. Remove the meat, separate and reserve drippings, adding if necessary moisten when needed. 1 fresh pineapple, sliced and diced jalapeno, minced, .5 (or less, if you don't like spicy) combine all ingredients and mix well. FAMILY TENTS FOR CAMPING
